Selecting and Buying the Perfect Quality Putter Regardless of Price or Style

. . . So You’re Going to Buy a Putter

Unless you are REALLY good at your short game, your putter is the only club you will use on EVERY hole.  A very well known golf instructor once told me, “Putting accounts for about 44% of your game”.  Think about it: one putt counts exactly the same as a 350-yard drive.

If 44% of my game is my putter, do I spend 44% of my practice time on the putting green?

Ok, with that out of the way, let’s start again:

. . . So You’re Going to Buy a Putter

As you look at clubs on the web, you will quickly realize that there is a far greater variety of putters available than any other club.  Instead of making the selection process easier, this huge variety actually makes the decision much more difficult.  In addition, how many putter ads have you read that tell you “This putter is as good as the others, but no better”?  Nope, each new putter that hits the market is “THE WORLD’S MOST BALANCED PUTTER or it will “SOLVE ALL OF YOUR PUTTING PROBLEMS”, will “HIT TRUER AND STRAIGHTER”, will “TAKE STROKES OFF OF EVERY HOLE”, and the claims go on and on.

Even though we are not a “brick and mortar” store, I must say, the only way to find your “Perfect Putter” is to try them.  Go to every golf or sporting goods store and try EVERY putter they have on display - even the ones that look like something from outer space.  I tried one a couple of weeks ago that was about the size of half a Frisbee(R)
.  The only thing that matters with your putter is that it has the right “FEEL” to you.  Don’t ask anyone for their advice.  Advice doesn’t matter.  It is all about what it FEELS like to YOU.

With that said, here’s my advice.

How much should you spend and how good does your putter need to be?

Will you get better quality if you pay more?  Possibly.  You can get a great putter for anywhere between $29 and $900.  (Yes, $900 – it includes 3 gyroscopes, each with a separate GPS and 2 accelerometers)  -  I just went to Google and typed in “putter prices”

Do you need a $900 putter?  I won’t even attempt to answer that.

So how much should I pay?  If your new putter feels right, raises your confidence, and helps you GET THE BALL IN THE HOLE, then THAT is a great putter, no matter what it costs.  (Or doesn’t cost)

Let me give a great example:Putter_1in_hi.gif
If you spend some quality time trying all of the putters in your zip code, and surrounding states, and find that you REALLY like the feel of a Perimeter Weighted Putter (The half-round style), and you have decided that THIS is the putter style that you want, you could then come to Golf Father Online and take a look at our new Quality Perimeter Weighted Putter.  If this matches your choice, it will only cost you $29.90 (On sale NOW and Shipping Is Free) to have it sent to your door.

One more piece of advice (which I told you not to ask for)

After you purchase your “ideal” putter, ask yourself this:

  • How many buckets of balls do I hit with my driver?
  • How many buckets of balls do I hit with my irons?
  • How many buckets of balls do I hit with my putter?

Remember if 44% of my game is my putter, do I spend 44% of my practice time on the putting green?

Thanks for asking,
Ed
